The Medical Panels Program is an important part of the Workers' Compensation system in Alberta.

The Workers' Compensation board (WCB) or Appeals Commission can refer medical questions to the Medical Panels Program. A panel of physicians is composed by the Medical Panels Program, conducts an examination of the worker and issues a report that answers the medical questions. The findings of the medical panel are binding on the WCB and the Appeals Commission.
