About Us

Medical Panels are independent from WCB and the Government of Alberta and take a collaborative, fact-based and focused approach to answer medical questions from the WCB or Appeals Commission.

Medical Panels are administered and operated according to the Workers’ Compensation Act and Medical Panels Regulation. 

The Medical Panel Program is made up of:

• A Medical Panels Commissioner (MPC), responsible for bringing together physicians with appropriate specialties to conduct an examination and write a report that answers the medical questions.
• A Medical Panels Registrar, who ensures the fair and client focused case management of matters referred to the Medical Panels Program
